krose,

I'm aware of the story, have seen your blog, and feel sorry for all involved. Thank you for taking the time to post your link on my blog for other readers to find, however. I have been tempted to do a follow-up blog myself, but the situation has become complicated because after I wrote my intial blogs, Lisa became my manager at work (her new profession, coincidently, is manager of a bar). As such I'm too close to the situation to be offering my new opinions for public consumption.

Again, thanks for sharing your link.

And regarding The Day After. To this DAY I can not eat a Baby Ruth with out thinking about that movie. And there is a white church in Lebanon, IL that I swear was the church they used in the show where they panned out and the mushroom cloud could be seen in the background. I recall thinking at another point "They are talking about eating people right?" What were we in, 3rd grade? On the bus ride on the day after The Day After even highschool kids were talking about how disturbing it was. Like you sir, I'm not sure I want to see it again. I sort of enjoy the enigmatic recall of various scenes. Much as I don't need to see some of the classical horror films of the 80s again. Evil Dead clearly displayed a new meaning of woody.

Having just recently read section two of the Open Water Diver Manual...

1. Actually know what you are talking about
2. Absolutely fear what you are talking about.

This is a whole new level of heart burn

Wow. Some gory pics. Glad you're going to be okay. The good news is you're on your way to becoming a great writer, here are the Hemingway quotes to prove it:

"The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the broken places."

"Forget your personal tragedy. We are all bitched from the start and you especially have to be hurt like hell before you can write seriously. But when you get the damned hurt use it — don't cheat with it."

And finally:

"It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and can coast down them. ... Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motorcar only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle. "

Oh Lord - who isn’t quite the savior
Hallowed be thy beer all topped with frothy cheer
Thy baby fish will hatch hungry mouths will snatch
They may be done while you’re on the run
Through snow on earth as it falls from heaven…
Give us this day our daily blog
All ‘bout the rides over hills & mounts & lakes of fog
May your sled run true and bring you in for a tasty brew
Watch out for the Pink Elephants – they REALLY sneak UP on you! AMEN…
